What is the Runes of Aldur league?

Runes of Aldur is the Path of Exile 2 0.5 expansion — billed as “Return of the Ancients” — which went live on 29 May 2026. It is the largest content drop since launch, centred on a sweeping endgame overhaul rather than a single bolt-on mechanic.

The big-ticket additions are a reworked endgame split across five storylines, two brand-new ascendancy classes (the Spirit Walker and the Martial Artist), a much larger 400+ node Atlas passive tree, over thirty new maps, 40+ new unique items, 160+ new crafting runes, and a first set of eight league challenges that reward the Knight of Aldur armour set. A built-in Build Planner and quality-of-life features — Atlas search, an in-game market price checker and a Fragment Stash Tab — round out the patch.

The five endgame storylines

The Origins of Divinity

The campaign-into-endgame thread: guided by Doryani, you push through forsaken maps to an ancient fortress, power up its machines and uncover the Precursors. It ships with a reworked Atlas passive tree and a set of new map "legends" that stack modifiers like all-Essence rare packs or extra bosses.

Delirium — The Raven and the Hare

A deeper Delirium with a new descent system: consume a Strange Fruit to draw fog across the Atlas and build toward a Simulacrum. Rewards include Distilled Emotions, which now instill passive buffs onto amulets and craft modifiers onto jewels. The boss Tangmazu can be re-challenged through Grand Mirrors.

Breach — Waking the Dreamer

Breaches now have a timer you extend by killing Hiveborn. Its standout feature is Genesis Tree crafting: fertilise the tree with Hiveblood from slain Hiveborn to grow new jewelry base types (Wombgifts and several new rings and amulets) with modifiers unavailable anywhere else.

Ritual — The Rite of the Nameless

Spend Tribute from Ritual altars on Uniques or Omens, then fill the meter for an audience with the King in the Mists. The escalating Rite of the Nameless bleeds across maps and culminates in a final trial, with new uniques like Sylvan’s Effigy, Liminal Coil and Periphery on the line.

Abyss

Mega abyssal cracks spread east from the Well of Souls across the Atlas. Closing them earns Abyss Atlas tree points; clearing all three abyssal factions yields a key to face the Vessel of Kulemak.

New crafting systems & valuable drops

Several of the new systems feed directly into the economy. Distilled Emotions from Delirium (Liquid Paranoia, Melancholy, Suffering and Isolation) are used to buff amulets and craft jewel modifiers, so they hold steady demand. Genesis Tree crafting from Breach turns Hiveblood into exclusive new jewelry bases — Wombgifts and a family of new rings and amulets — that can roll modifiers found nowhere else.

On the chase end, Ritual's Foretold Bounty can surface a Mageblood and the Omen of Greater Annulment, and the league adds 40+ new uniques in total. To value any of these against the market, paste or look them up on the tools — and track the headline currencies on their own pages: Divine Orb, Exalted Orb and Chaos Orb.

Making currency this league
