The going rate is what the item is changing hands for right now, the safe number to list at for a quick sale. The suggested range nudges that up when an item is climbing and demand is healthy, so you can try for a little more without your listing sitting forever.
The call reads both price and demand, using daily trade volume as the demand signal, because a price only keeps climbing while buyers keep coming. Hold for more means price and demand are holding up or rising, so you can list a little higher and hold out for a better price; Sell at market means price and demand have both been steady, so just take the going rate; Sell now means demand is cooling, the price is slipping, or volume is too thin to wait, so list at the rate and take a sale. The 1d, 7d and 14d columns show the recent price move. For the wider picture see the Economy page, or browse every currency on the Currency Desk.
Currency Exchange pricing FAQ
How do I know what to list an item for on the Currency Exchange?
Start from the going rate shown for the item, which is its current live market value. List at that rate for a quick, reliable sale. If you are not in a hurry and the price is trending up, you can list a little higher and wait. If trade volume is low, expect a listing to take longer and price at or just under the rate.
Should I sell now or hold for a better price?
It depends on the trend and how actively the item trades. If it is drifting down over the week, sell now before it slips. If it is climbing and trades in good volume, you can hold and list above the going rate. For stable, liquid items there is little to gain by waiting, so just sell at market.
Why is there no buy and sell spread shown?
The in-game Currency Exchange has two separate sides, buyers and sellers, but the public data we use (poe.ninja) reports a single going rate, not the live spread between them. So the suggested price is guidance from the rate, the recent trend and the trade volume, rather than a measured spread.
How often do the prices update?
Going rates refresh hourly from poe.ninja. The trend and trade-activity context is built from our own price record kept across the league.
