How to Sell Items in Path of Exile 2

Selling is how a full stash becomes Divine Orbs. POE2 gives you three routes — the in-game Currency Exchange, the official trade site, and bulk buyouts — and each one suits a different kind of loot. This guide covers all three, plus how to price everything with live market data.

The three ways to sell in POE2

Match the route to the loot. Currency-like items trade instantly through the in-game exchange; gear needs a listing and a whisper; mixed bulk is fastest as one buyout.

Currency Exchange
Currency, splinters, catalysts, essences
In-game, asynchronous and instant when matched. The right place for anything stackable.
Trade site listings
Rares, uniques, jewels, waystones
List on the official trade site; buyers whisper you in-game and you trade directly.
Bulk buyout
A whole stash of mixed currency
Price the lot as one package and sell it in a single trade — fastest chaos-per-minute.

Selling currency: the in-game Currency Exchange

The Currency Exchange is the cleanest selling experience in the game and the default home for every stackable item. Open it by visiting Alva in your hideout (or at the Ziggurat Refuge), pick what you have and what you want, and the exchange suggests the current market ratio — accept it or set your own, then place the order for a small gold fee.

Orders are asynchronous: if someone has already posted the matching side, you are paid instantly; if not, your order stays open and fills when a match arrives. Cancelling refunds your currency but not the gold fee, so check the live ratio on the Currency Desk before you post — an order placed at a stale price either fills instantly below market or sits unfilled above it.

Selling gear: the official trade site

Rares, uniques and other equipment sell through the official trade site at pathofexile.com/trade2. Put the item in a public stash tab and set a price — with a premium tab that is a right-click; without one you can type a price note on the item. The listing appears on the trade site automatically.

When a buyer wants it, the site generates a whisper that lands in your in-game chat. Invite them to your party, let them join your hideout, and complete the trade window. Two habits make the difference: respond quickly (buyers shop multiple listings at once), and stay online — offline listings are filtered out of most searches. The full buying-side walkthrough is in the POE2 Trade Guide.

Pricing: the part most sellers get wrong

Every unsold item is a pricing problem. The market moves all league — what was 30 chaos last week may be 12 today — so price from live data, not memory. The Currency Desk shows the current value of every tracked currency and league item, refreshed hourly from poe.ninja, along with momentum signals that tell you whether an item is rising (hold) or cooling (sell now).

For gear, search the trade site for items with similar key modifiers and price against the cheapest online listings — slightly undercutting moves an item in hours instead of days. If something gets whispered the second you list it, it was underpriced; relist the next one higher.

Bulk selling: turn a full stash into one trade

Selling fifty small stacks one whisper at a time is the slowest money in the game. The Bulk Pricer values your whole inventory at live prices — currency, essences, catalysts, splinters and more across every category — applies a realistic bulk discount, and generates a single buyout message you can paste into trade chat. One trade, one buyer, done.

Selling FAQ

How do you sell items in POE2?

There are three routes. Currency and stackable league items sell through the in-game Currency Exchange (visit Alva in your hideout or the Ziggurat Refuge). Gear — rares and uniques — is listed on the official trade site via a public stash tab, and buyers whisper you in-game. Bulk lots of mixed currency are best sold as a single priced buyout, which you can assemble with the Exiled Tools Bulk Pricer.

Can you sell items without a premium stash tab?

Yes. A premium stash tab lets you price items with a right-click, which is the fastest workflow, but you can also set a price note on an item directly in-game. Premium tabs are a convenience for active traders, not a requirement.

How do I sell currency in POE2?

Use the in-game Currency Exchange: open it at Alva, choose what you have and what you want, accept or adjust the suggested market ratio, and place the order (orders cost a small gold fee). If a matching order exists you are paid instantly; otherwise your order stays open until someone matches it. Check the live ratio on the Exiled Tools Currency Desk first so you do not sell under market.

Why is nobody buying my items?

Almost always price or availability. If an item is priced above the listings around it, buyers take the cheaper copy; check the live market and undercut slightly. You also need to be online to complete gear trades — listings from offline players are filtered out by most buyers.

Should I sell items to vendors or to players?

Vendoring returns gold, which is useful but worth far less than what good items fetch from players. Anything with real market value — valuable currency, well-rolled rares, uniques, league items like Expedition Logbooks — should go to the Currency Exchange or the trade site instead.

How do I know what my items are worth?

For currency and stackables, the Exiled Tools Currency Desk shows live prices for every tracked item, refreshed hourly from poe.ninja. For a whole stash of mixed currency, the Bulk Pricer values the lot and generates a single buyout message you can paste into trade chat.
